Cycling in the land of the wine
Straight cycling. That’s easy. You can do it for a whole sunny day. If you neatly pass by the hills of Überetsch’s vineyards on serpentine tracks and paths, you can cycle far into the South surrounded by vines and apple trees. Far away from traffic and on enjoyable paths, the experienced cyclist can get from one wine village to the next and even down to Lake Garda.
On well-signposted and smoothly asphalted cycle tracks, you can cycle along the side of the river Etsch to Bolzano and further to Merano or Brixen. To make your journey quicker and the airflow stronger, you can rent not only bikes but also e-bikes at our Hotel Thalhof. Also at the Kaltern tourist association you can rent bikes. Another bike service and rental company is located at Rottenburgerplatz.
In wilder terrain
The local mountain Mendel is a challenge for the mountain biker. The paths lead through thick forests over hedge and ditch. But also the one or other moderately ascending forest or gravel path can be found under shady trees.
Mountain bikers encounter ideal conditions for a season start at the Mendel mountain, usually already in March, as well as challenging trails at the Mitterberg mountain. Also the forest Montiggler Wald recently turned into a popular area for cyclists. Here, one trail follows the other.
Hotel Thalhof is a member of „bike Kaltern“. It is a cachet and symbol for a bicycle friendly establishment, which testifies that facilities and provisions for cyclists are available.
